All About God

This blog is about God and His Word.  I’ll add my own thoughts here and there, share my testimony of how active God is in my life,  but will scrap this blog if I lose track of its intended purpose.

Father I pray that You would give Tawni a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. That You would flood her heart with light so that she may know Your inheritance in her. Give her eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to receive. May Your power empower her in her walk. May she receive wisdom beyond her years in You and let her know that You do not measure time but growth so let her grow in You. In Jesus’ name amen and amen!

    Hi Tawni,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m so glad to see that you are remaining anchored in the Word! Thank you, also, for sharing your studies and thoughts. Please allow me to share a couple of my own thoughts. These are just a few things that have really impacted me over the last few years, and that still stick with me daily. I hope they will encourage you as well.

I strive to live by Lk 9:23 every day:
Jesus said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

We remain on this earth for the purpose of missions, of sharing what we know, including sharing the Gospel globally:
Rom 10:13-15 – “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

This quote by John Piper sums up the Christian’s responsibility nicely, I think.
“There are 3 kind of Christians when it comes to world missions: Zealous Goers, Zealous Senders, and Disobedient”

Finally, here’s a quote from Richard Stearns about the means and ends of Christianity and the ultimate purpose of us as the body of Christ on this earth.
“The chief purpose of the church is to bring glory to God by accomplishing the Great Commission pronounced by Jesus. Everything else—worship, preaching, teaching, discipling, congregational care, the sacraments, feeding the hungry, caring for the poor, and so on—while valuable for us and pleasing to God in and of themselves, are ultimately means to the end of faithfully completing the assignment given to the church by Jesus just before he left.”

Anyway, my purpose in sharing this is strictly to encourage. I’m in no way attempting to impose these on you. I just thought that they might encourage you as they have me.

    Thanks again!

Keep studying! Keep worshiping! Keep sharing!

Thank you so much Jono. I really appreciate that you took the time send me your thoughts and encouragement. It means a lot! I’m pretty new to being a Christian and I’ve just recently found a church within the past couple of months so I don’t have a lot of friends who are believers yet. I don’t know anyone at my church well yet either. So I welcome any and all mature believers, like yourself, who can keep an eye out and let me know if I go off track with my studies. So if you see anything in my studies that makes you shake your head, be sure and let me know!

Thank you again for your thoughts!
