Compassion for our fellow humans shouldn’t have to be taught, it should come naturally. It boggles the mind the lack of empathy we see everyday.
Those homeless people you pass on your way to work…they are people and no less deserving of a smile and a good morning as you pass, than any other person. Part of the problem is that people pretend they don’t see them. They dehumanize the homeless so they can justify their lack of compassion and common courtesy.
You don’t have to hand over money. Sometimes just acknowledging others is the kindest act you can offer.
Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in their own time of need.
