I see this with my sons growing up, when they’ve done something wrong and attempt to hide it. Their behavior gets worse and worse as guilt and shame eat them from the inside out, until finally they can’t take it anymore and they confess.
Suddenly the weight is lifted. With forgiveness comes peace and relaxation. The burden of sin was lifted and it started with fessing up to what they’d done.
Happy is the person whose sins are forgiven, whose wrongs are pardoned.
