Proverbs 30:8-9

People hear of the lottery and million dollar sweeps and they start dreaming of all the things they’d do with the money.  Rarely does giving back make it in the top 3 of their lists.

Even the dream of money, not the reality, just the thought of it, starts pulling us away from a life centered on God.

God is a great caretaker, provider.  I don’t always get what I want, but I do always seem to have what I need.  We don’t have a lot, but we have a roof over our heads, plenty of food, clothes on our backs, and an emergency fund.  We are richer than many people around the world, and give thanks everyday for all the blessings God gives to us.

First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord ?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.
