And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; 21 for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch His garment, I will get well.” 22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” At once the woman was made well.
Then He touched their eyes, saying, “It shall be done to you according to your faith.”
There are many examples of how our faith in Jesus Christ can bring about healing.
Couple of things:
1. Faith comes first
2. We can do nothing without Jesus
Faith Comes First
Faith opens our eyes to our need for healing in the first place. Not all afflictions are physical. Not all illnesses can be seen. Not all pain is visible. Those who seek help and healing are those who have some measure of faith that they CAN be helped or healed.
Those who have no faith, never seek out help or healing in the first place. Why bother if it won’t happen anyway right?
Those who have no faith in a doctor’s ability to heal, won’t make an appointment with the doctor either.
We can do nothing without Jesus
When faith sparks the hope of healing, we then search for the One who can heal us. We cannot heal ourselves, but He can. And we pray, and we ask, and we cry and beg and plead.
And we find healing.
Healing takes on many forms. For physical ails, it could be guidance to the “right” doctor who can heal us.
It could be guidance to the “right” counselor who says just the “right” thing.
It could be a pull to go into THAT church instead of THIS one where you find someone who can help you.
Healing could be the strong urge to say, “I’m sorry” for something you did in the past to hurt someone else.
Healing could also be the letting go of hurtful addictions.
Healing may not come in the form you think. It may not miraculously cure your disease at all, but it may heal your fear of what is to come instead.
And you know it’s from God when it brings peace, forgiveness, relief and rest. When that huge burden you thought would be so hard, suddenly was made … easy. When your affliction, whatever it is, suddenly stops being your focus and you are able to focus on Him again, on your loved ones, on positive things again.
We cannot attain healing on our own. He is the foundation and fulfillment of our faith. He is our hope and our light in the darkest places.
If you are without faith – search for it. Don’t give up.
If you WANT hope…if you WANT faith…if you WANT to believe that this short little life we have is NOT the end…if you WANT to believe that there is something more on the other side of death…
It really is that simple. It’s a choice…a decision. Once you make the choice, throw yourself into learning about your Savior, your Heavenly Father, and the family you have just been adopted into and healing will come to you.
